Have you ever thought of becoming a Union representative?

Reps are elected by fellow members in the workplace for a period of up to two years at a time. The Union provides training for new reps. The Company provides paid time-off for training and attending meetings and there's always a friendly voice at the end of the phone at Union Headquarters if you need information. The union's team of full-time officers are also available to you if you need a bit of extra support.

The last national elections took place in September 2009, though an election can be held any time if there is a vacancy is in your workplace (please see Rule 11d in the Rules & Constitution for more information).

If your workplace does not have a rep at present, why don’t you think about taking on the role? It's important, not too time consuming and most reps really enjoy it!

By becoming an Accord Rep, you’ll have access to UNIONREPS too – this is an online community with almost 15,000 members.  You’ll have access to information, resources and tools that will give you all the help and support you’ll need to strengthen your role in the workplace.  To join, go to www.unionreps.org.uk.

Regional Executive Committees (RECs)

The Regional Executive Committees are made up of reps who meet to discuss the issues of the day for members in their region of the UK Retail Bank.

The RECs normally meet each quarter with the Regional Head of HR to progress issues. They are responsible for building Union membership in the regions and ensuring that all workplaces elect representatives and that those representatives attend Union meetings in the regions.

The REC election took place at the reps General Meetings in November and a list of Committee members will be available shortly.
