23rd June 2010 - Accord's Biennial Delegate Conference kicks off in Belfast on June 23rd.

This is Accord's most important event for many years. The world of banking, within which we operate, changed in 2009. This conference is the first time that your local representatives, who have all been chosen by members to be delegates on their behalf, have been able to get together to discuss the longer term implications for our union.

As well as celebrating the successes of Accord, and preparing ourselves for more successes in the future, Accord's Principal Executive Council has two main objectives from this conference:

  1. To discuss and reassert the strength of the Partnership approach and show how this sensible, mature trade unionism improves the working lives of our members.  To build on the successes within HBOS so we can apply it to the new working environment within LBG and prove that Partnership is the better way for our members;
  2. To support, empower and enable our network of almost 1,000 Reps, who provide Accord members with essential day to day help to look after their needs better.

Throughout conference we'll send a daily update so that members can keep in touch with what is happening and we'll send out a summary next week.
