4th February 2010 - Accord Ballot Extended
We’re extending the ballot deadline to 5pm, Wednesday 10th February. Read on to find out why we think this is necessary.
Your Future, Your Choice: Ballot Update
Members’ feedback following the publication of the pay ranges by the Bank on Monday, February 1st has created lots of queries and a fair degree of confusion.
The most straight forward queries to deal with have been those about the new terminology as, fundamentally, the pay system is very similar to that which members were used to in HBOS.
The key message for today is that if you now feel that you have enough information to make a decision then please vote straight away.
If you need help in accessing the voting site please contact the balloting company direct on 0208 889 9203.
However, some significant difficulties have emerged:
- Despite the Bank’s assurances to the contrary, not all staff have been informed of their grade sub-levels. Some that have are considering appealing and still more believe that they have, in effect, been downgraded by selection processes that took place prior to the publication of the new terms and conditions and wish to lodge formal grievances. The Union has written to the Bank asking for urgent joint discussions on these issues
- A number of members who have been excluded from the published pay ranges have not received satisfactory explanations as to why this is the case nor indications of when their information will be available. They understandably feel disenfranchised and do not believe that they have sufficient information to make an informed choice on the acceptability or otherwise of the proposals. Click here for the exclusions and the rationales the Bank has provided to the Union.
To provide time for the further discussions to take place and for more information to be provided to certain employees by the Bank, the proposed closing date of the members’ ballot is being put back.
The ballot will not now close until at least 5pm on Wednesday, 10th February and a further extension will be considered if necessary.
In addition, a number of members have been unable to find out what cluster their workplace is in. The Bank has published the information on their Intranet. It is apparently under the tab ‘National Pay Data Grades A-C’. If you scroll down that page there is an alphabet menu to select your location. For ease, however, you can click here for a copy.
Finally, a number of members have asked for advice on how they can appeal against their Performance Assessments. A guide from Accord is available here.
We thank all members for their patience and support as we continue to address these critically important issues.
