3rd December 2009 - Your Future, Your Choice: Terms & Conditions Integration
The Bank published its proposals to integrate terms and conditions of employment for HBOS and Lloyds TSB staff today.
A commentary on the key points from the Bank's proposals is available here.
The proposals are now subject to further consultation. No agreement has been reached with Accord and what happens next will be determined by members through the consultation process.
Accord's Principal Executive Council (PEC) has appointed Electoral Reform Services (http://www.erbs.co.uk/) to organise a secure ballot of members in January.
The Union will not be recommending members to vote in one way or another in the ballot. We know and respect our members and trust them to make the right decision for themselves and their colleagues.
The ballot results will be published after the closing date and Accord will act in accordance with members' wishes.
After the ballot we expect to have further discussions with the Bank on the outcomes of consultation processes and on any transitional arrangements that might apply if an agreement is to be reached.
However, Accord will not commit to any Agreement with the Bank which would implement changes unless we have a clear mandate from members to do so.
So, members will determine what Accord does next and it is really important that everybody participates by voting when the ballot takes place in January. (The ballot dates will be confirmed separately and letters will be sent to home addresses next month explaining the processes.)
In the meantime, special meetings for Accord workplace Representatives to discuss the proposals, consider members' initial reactions and start to plan the way forward have been arranged.
The meetings, which will be held from 12.30pm to 3.30pm, will take place this month as follows:
- Tuesday 8th, Birmingham NEC Hilton: www.birminghammetropole.com
- Wednesday 9th, London, TUC: www.congresscentre.co.uk
- Friday 11th, Edinburgh, Marriott Hotel: www.marriotthotels.com/edieb
- Monday 14th, Leeds, Metropolitan Hotel: www.methotelleeds.co.uk
- Wednesday 16th, London, TUC (Final mop up session for those who missed the regions.)
Reps (or deputies where the rep is unavailable for any reason) need to speak to their managers to book time-off work and make their travel plans. The Bank understands and supports the reason for these meetings and will encourage all managers to allow a Rep or member to attend wherever possible.
Any queries relating to time-off, travel etc should be referred to hilary.letch@AccordHQ.org
This is a critical period in relation to your future employment conditions. It is vital that your voice is heard through the consultation process.
Only Accord members will determine the Union's approach to the proposed changes - you are in charge.
Please ensure that your workplace is represented at one of the reps' meeting and that you take part in the ballot.
Any general queries or comments about terms and conditions integration should be referred to info@AccordHQ.org
