13th May 2010 - Don't be too busy to vote

Accord’s Principal Executive Council (PEC) met in London on May 13th.

The PEC received a progress report from the Union’s negotiating team ahead of the final meeting with the Bank on May 19th.

It is hoped that the final meeting will secure an improved offer from the Bank on the integrated terms and conditions.

The Union’s current plan is to conduct a further online ballot of members around the end of May (paper copies will be available on request).

The ballot will give members an opportunity to respond to any new offer on the terms and conditions integration following publication by the Bank.

Members will also be able to vote on whether the imposed 2010 pay settlement and the imposed changes to the final salary pension scheme should be accepted, or whether a ballot for industrial action (initially short of strike action) should be held instead.

The PEC’s statement following its previous meeting on March 25th is here:

A series of meetings for workplace representatives is taking place from 18th to 27th May. You can find information about dates, timings and locations at: http://www.accord-myunion.org/union/conference.php

It is really important that all workplaces are represented at these meetings.

Details of how to vote in the ballot will be sent to members’ home addresses by the end of May.

If the events of the General Election have taught us anything, it is how important it is for people to participate in democratic decision making if they really want to influence events.

Use your vote. It really will make a difference.
